I was very blessed to have spent my early professional years in Central California. There I fell in love with the amazing works of Ansel Adams, especially his dramatic black and white landscapes of Yosemite Valley, the High Sierra, and the glorious American West.
Ansel’s prints were shown in many galleries in Carmel by the Sea. We used to ride from Monterey and visited the downtown every weekend for some French onion soup. Very bohemian, seating by the outdoor fireplace at the Hog’s Breath Inn, relaxing, and enjoying life and the company of good friends.
As soon as I was able to save some money, I bought my first 35 mm Nikon camera with a prime 50 mm lens. Shortly after, my best friend and I took some time off and drove to Yosemite Valley. The serenity and awesome scenery at valley were simply perfection. We were able to follow up the footsteps of Ansel Adams work and tried to capture as many beautiful moments as possible.
I started to take pictures and capture special moments many years before when I was about 13 years old with a small Kodak instamatic that my parents gave me. During my high school, I was a member of the photo club, and we were very fortunate to learn to use the black and white film developing process and the print enlarger at the school dark room. I still can remember the chemical smell, the red light, and the anticipation of the picture to start showing up at the developer bath pan.
My senior year of high school, I also entered and won my first photography contest with my parent’s 35 mm Konica equipped with a small telephoto lens. I still remember the picture; it was of a very humble petite country girl in a white cotton dress with her three small kids in front of her tiny wood house in a coffee plantation. Amazing moment of a peaceful simple life and the picture told a beautiful story.
My second influencer was the French Impressionist School, especially Claude Monet. I was also very blessed to have the opportunity to visit Giverny in Northern France, Monet's house in the country. There I learned about serenity, soft colors technique, and the power of the impressionism. Again, I fell in love with Claude’s work and had the opportunity to follow his footsteps in Northern France. I took as many photos as possible of his painting’s themes; the farmhouse, his gardens, the whipping willows, the Chinese bridge over the pond, and the water lilies.
Our last influencer was the adventurous writer Ernest Hemingway with his great stories and spectacular moments captured with pictures. Ernest inspired us to take photos of adventurous moments like family/friend trips, hunting, fishing, car racing, flying, corporate events, family sports, and adventurous trips.
I guess our photographic style is a mathematical sum of all the factors that influenced us; a master photographer, a master impressionist painter, and a master adventurous storyteller. We seek to capture the most beautiful moments as if each photo is a fine art masterpiece that tells a story.
Photography has always been part of my life. I am a very visual and spacious type of person; I see the world through a perspective of physics and geometry. That is the reason we are passionate about the correct light, sharpness, shades, color tones, diffusion, backgrounds, and perspectives.
To us a great picture is worth a thousand words, it should tell a great story. We feel good pictures capture emotions and record memories of feelings of our personal passions/loves. We are passionately driven to capture the moments of the most beautiful adventure, LIFE.
Hope you enjoy our gallery with some of our favorite moments and invite us to share and capture your special ones.
